Racers basketball coming together

I took in my first UNOH men's basketball Saturday, when they crushed hapless Marygrove, 100-71. It might be hard to get a true impression of the Racers after watching them play a 1-15 team, but I liked what I saw.

I knew they had the pieces to be good. Starting at the top, Chris Adams is as good as coaches get. Plus, they had some great backcourt players in Isaac Bowers, Josh Vorst and Jason Sarno. They certainly didn't lack size, either, particularly with the tattooed and goateed 6-foot-8 Kyle Gillette. Brandon Miller is an ultra-smart player.

It's a long way from being a finished product, but they're getting there.

Check out Wednesday's The Lima News, where my column will deal with the growing pains and future at UNOH. I talked with Adams, Vorst, Sarno and Marcus Addy after the Marygrove game and got a few interesting insights.
