NFL Playoffs, part deux

OK, my first weekend of NFL picks didn't go so well. I guess no one will confuse me with some high-rolling Vegas type. So, let's try this again.
DIVISIONAL ROUND
Green Bay over Seattle (The Packers are again two-dimensional. Not so much with the Hawks.)
Dallas over NY Giants (I typed in the Giants as the winners, then erased it. I couldn't sleep tonight if I picked the Giants just because they were the hot pick of the moment. The Boys are just too talented).
New England over Jacksonville (If the Jags hadn't played a tough road game last week, I might be swayed to the upset. As it stands, I don't think they have enough left in the tank to take out NE.)
Indy over San Diego (Originially, I picked the Bolts in this one. But without A.Gates, the Bolts don't stand a chance.)

JAN. 14, 12:50 p.m.
Wow. What a weekend of football. So, I rolled to a .500 record. If only I had listened to the experts and picked the Giants...
As for the championship games:
New England over San Diego (The Bolts have the defense to keep it close, but NE's advantage between the two offenses shows up)
Green Bay over NY Giants (The extended forecast calls for a high temp of FOUR degrees in Green Bay. The two best things for Pack fans happened this weekend ... a GB win and NYG win. Enjoy that home field advantage).

For the record, I'm still taking Green Bay in the upset win over New England. It'll be a shoot-out, though. I'm thinking a final score of 38-34 or something like that.

I agree with 3 of 4 of your picks, but i will take seattle over green bay in a mild upset..Dallas will blast the giants, and THE COLTS will kick the bolts with or without gates....NE over jags, yes, BUT, i believe this could be a upset possibly..I pick NE, but upset score Jags 26-23..Thanks for still posting..What happened to larry g?

You know, I am not too mad at you for saying the Titans would lose. It is just par for the course in being a Tennessee sports fan. So be it. Maybe we can pick up a few good wideouts in the upocoming draft too. All is a dream. HOWEVER, we picked up Florida's running backs coach who is a top 25 recruiter in Vol land. LOVE IT. Anyhow, talk to you soon my friend.

Larry gave up blogging because it took too much time. That's his story anyways.
And I couldn't agree more with the NE-Jacksonville game. The Jags have the running game and defense to control this game. The only question becomes, how much do they have left in the tank? While they were battling Pittsburgh last week, the Patriots players were home in their nice, cooshy mansions. I would LOVE to see the upset here.
Seattle vs. Green Bay will be a great game ... and I think NY vs. Dallas has the makings of a great one as well. All said, I think this is a wonderful weekend of football.

And Anthony, I might have had more faith in your Titans had they started a quarterback and not Vince Young. Ouch. Sorry.
And I'm darn near turning in my scarlet and grey for Volunteer orange after these last two years. What a joke. How many times can Jim Tressel get out-coached and still keep his saintly title in Buckeye land? I'm not calling for his job, just maybe some realism. He's not the greatest coach in the land. Top-10? You bet. But not the best.

No, its fine. I am honestly not too into Vince Young right now. I strongly believe he was a great college QB, but not holding true in the NFL. Oh well.

I too, was ready to give up on big punkin after this season, but I will be honest, I think he is putting together a staff that will be strong and potentially help us earn our spot at the top of the SEC. I have no idea though.

Tressell is a special coach no matter how you slice it my friend. There are plenty of programs that would kill to have him involved. I kind of lost a bit of faith in him too, I am starting to believe. But you're an alum, you won't abandon the scarlet and grey. I know it. But you can come over to overrated SEC land and be a Vols fan any day! Why are people debating conferences instead of teams anyway?

That's a great point. Why debate conferences? Every one is the same -- you have your great teams, your so-so ones and then the "others".
As for the SEC, I think it's the best conference right now. However, it's become the trendy thing to say right now because some talking head spouted off about. Now, everyone takes it as gospel. Is it true? Yeah. Does it mean every other conference is garbage? No.

Agreeable. Although, read this:

The infamous "Earthquake Game" against Auburn in 1988. In that game, LSU claimed a 7-6 win thanks to QB Tommy Hodson's game-winning touchdown throw to running back Eddie Fuller in the last seconds of the game. LSU fans rejoiced so loudly that a LSU Geology Department seismograph registered the ruckus.

It may mean nothing to you or any other Big 10 fan, but when you go to a game at Neyland, Death Valley, The Swamp... hell everywhere except Vanderbilt pretty much, you need a megaphone to talk to the person next to you. Those games when the opposing team is on offense are SO SO SO SO loud. I have no idea how any QB could not cause a miscue in some of these games. But anyway, I know crowd noise is 2.6% of the game. And I am sure in other venues it is equally loud. It could be that I am just unable to comprehend everywhere else. That's why we're headed to the Shoe this football season come hell or high water. I've got to see it. I am not too proud of a Tennessee fan to not go to an Ohio State game. I can't wait until the day to be honest.
I digress. I just hope maybe one day this world will not continue forward with a conference war. Who cares? It's crazy. It's okay to debate WAC vs. Big 10 or MAC vs. SEC, because it DOES hold true. The competition level is amazing in majors vs. FCS. Oh yeah, one more thing! http://utsports.com/football/article.aspx?id=48306

We got the HC from the Richmond Spiders. And the RB coach from the Gators. I certainly hope this pans out!

Talk to you soon!

Man, sorry for writing with such fragmentation. I tend to do that when I get excited about something! That must drive you nuts as a writer.

I would love to see a game at any of the legendary SEC stadiums. Would be an amazing experience.

The thing that drives me crazy about Ohio Stadium is it doesn't get extremely loud, considering well over 100,000 people are crammed in there. Sure, it's loud. But not overwhelmingly.

This is from Josh Levin on Slate.com:

"After finishing off Ohio State's now-annual title-game humiliation, the entire LSU team swarmed Fox's postgame set. The Tigers, the freshly minted champions of college football, tousled Florida coach Urban Meyer's hair as they began to chant: "SEC! SEC! SEC!" It was a strange sight — an exultant celebration not of the team's resounding victory but of the pointless notion that the Southeastern Conference is better than the Big Ten. But this is college football, where each season is less a systematic scheme for picking a champion than it is a never-ending bar argument. By the time January comes, not much has been settled, everyone's exhausted, and we're all shouting incoherently."

Hahaha, I LOVE IT! (not really) I am SO glad LSU decided to show some class. >o(

Such arrogance should be laughed at. Horrible.

Classless. Period.

But cheers! Still some good NFL games to play!

And yes, the Shoe... HERE I COME!

Just as soon as you can get down here, we will have to take you! Oh yeah... FLORIDA is at home this year! Whether we beat them or not remains to be seen.

how do buckeye fans continue to dismiss these embarrasing losses and blame on something or someone else, or dis the team that kicked their a/s/s/..tressel is NOT a big game coach, and the buckeyes continue to embarass the big 10
