"How do buckeye fans continue to dismiss these embarrasing losses and blame on something or someone else, or dis the team that kicked their (butts) ... tressel is NOT a big game coach, and the buckeyes continue to embarass the big 10"
This was taken from another posting that started out NFL and devolved into a college football discussion. So, to get more interest going, I posted this comment from an anon poster.
I am not one of those Buckeyes fans that dismiss the loss or try to blame it on someone other than the team. OSU got outplayed by Florida. The Bucks got outplayed by LSU. Simple as that.
As for Tressel, I'm not ready to say he's not a big game coach yet. It wasn't but a few years ago that he prepped his team to upset the unbeatable Miami team. He's owned Michigan (I don't care, I don't care ... OSU coaches will always be judged by their record against Michigan). I have to say, though, my confidence is a bit shaken by the last two BCS championship game losses.
Oh, and to say OSU embarasses the Big 10 is a joke. The Big 10 does a good enough job of embarassing itself without pinning the blame on one team. OSU made it to the title game two years in a row ... and even though they lost both, don't think any of the other 10 teams in the conference wouldn't trade places with them.

Racers basketball coming together
I took in my first UNOH men's basketball Saturday, when they crushed hapless Marygrove, 100-71. It might be hard to get a true impression of the Racers after watching them play a 1-15 team, but I liked what I saw.
I knew they had the pieces to be good. Starting at the top, Chris Adams is as good as coaches get. Plus, they had some great backcourt players in Isaac Bowers, Josh Vorst and Jason Sarno. They certainly didn't lack size, either, particularly with the tattooed and goateed 6-foot-8 Kyle Gillette. Brandon Miller is an ultra-smart player.
It's a long way from being a finished product, but they're getting there.
Check out Wednesday's The Lima News, where my column will deal with the growing pains and future at UNOH. I talked with Adams, Vorst, Sarno and Marcus Addy after the Marygrove game and got a few interesting insights.

NFL Playoffs, part deux
OK, my first weekend of NFL picks didn't go so well. I guess no one will confuse me with some high-rolling Vegas type. So, let's try this again.
DIVISIONAL ROUND
Green Bay over Seattle (The Packers are again two-dimensional. Not so much with the Hawks.)
Dallas over NY Giants (I typed in the Giants as the winners, then erased it. I couldn't sleep tonight if I picked the Giants just because they were the hot pick of the moment. The Boys are just too talented).
New England over Jacksonville (If the Jags hadn't played a tough road game last week, I might be swayed to the upset. As it stands, I don't think they have enough left in the tank to take out NE.)
Indy over San Diego (Originially, I picked the Bolts in this one. But without A.Gates, the Bolts don't stand a chance.)
JAN. 14, 12:50 p.m.
Wow. What a weekend of football. So, I rolled to a .500 record. If only I had listened to the experts and picked the Giants...
As for the championship games:
New England over San Diego (The Bolts have the defense to keep it close, but NE's advantage between the two offenses shows up)
Green Bay over NY Giants (The extended forecast calls for a high temp of FOUR degrees in Green Bay. The two best things for Pack fans happened this weekend ... a GB win and NYG win. Enjoy that home field advantage).
For the record, I'm still taking Green Bay in the upset win over New England. It'll be a shoot-out, though. I'm thinking a final score of 38-34 or something like that.

NFL Playoffs
The second season is here in pro football. Here's how I see it shaking out:
WILD CARD ROUND
Jacksonsville over Pittsburgh (No Willie Paker? No win.)
San Diego over Tennessee (Sorry, Anthony)
Tampa Bay over NY Giants (Fewer turnovers, better 3rd-down conversions means a Bucs win)
Washington over Seattle (Emotions carry the 'Skins to another win)
DIVISIONAL ROUND
New England over Jacksonville (Two weeks off for the Patriots. Nuff said.)
San Diego over Indy (Indy barely beat the Bolts in the regular season. I give SD the edge in the rematch.)
Dallas over Washington (This one could go either way, so I'll go with the home team.)
Green Bay over Tampa Bay (Give me Brett Favre over Jeff Garcia any day.)
CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
New England over San Diego (Loss No. 1 doesn't come just yet.)
Green Bay over Dallas (Favre breaks his Dallas jinx thanks to a healthier GB squad.)
SUPER BOWL
Green Bay over New England (Favre and the Pack play out of their minds to reaffirm No. 4's status as the best QB playing the game in the last 15 years. Plus, a NE loss in the Super Bowl would crush my favorite ball coach and pretty-boy QB.)
And you know I'm not being biased here. After all, I'm a Bears fan picking the Packers to win the Super Bowl.
